This was a small kitchen remodel we did for a client in Cherokee Gardens here in Louisville, Kentucky. Many of our clients live in homes with outdated designs and are looking to give their space a facelift. As you’ll see in this first picture, our client’s kitchen was functional but by no means inviting. Their dark tile floor gave off a cold feel, as is often the case with tile floors in kitchens. Instead of tile, many kitchens in this area have hardwood flooring to bring in warmth and elegance. In the next picture you’ll see the beautiful hardwood floor our client decided to go with.
KITCHEN BEFORE
As you can see, the lack of natural and artificial lighting made this kitchen feel dark and sterile. We addressed this by adding canned lights throughout the room which disperse light more evenly. We also added a much larger window that allows natural light in and warms up the space. You’ll notice in the next picture that even with the lights turned off, the space looks much brighter and more welcoming with the larger windows we added. This simple change along with the light color cabinets and hardwood floors make this kitchen one to be desired…
KITCHEN REMODEL
The next picture shows part of the picture frame window mentioned before. We added hanging shelves for a clean and attractive coffee preparation area. Additionally, we installed a counter depth refrigerator which allows for a much bigger island because of the extra space gained. Our client chose a light quartz countertop and a white farm sink with their light color cabinets. This allows for accents and pops of color in the decor while keeping an overall clean feel.
